All you have to do is unpack your luggage, unwind from your journey, and begin enjoying “La Dolce Vita “while in our beautiful, hospitable 4 star hotels. The buffet-style lunches (L) and dinners (D) will include mineral water. Breakfast (B) will be continental style. Boxed lunches will be prepared by our hotel for each full day optional tour.
Day 1 - Sat - Depart from your city to Naples, Italy.
Day 2 - Sun – Ischia Porto - Arrive at Napoli Capodichino airport, Piazza Garibaldi train station or Beverello Port. Our tour bus will depart from Capodichino airport and from “Stazione Centrale Napoli Piazza Garibaldi” at approximately 12:00 PM. Another meeting point is the Beverello Port at 12:30 PM. The exact time will be communicated with the final documents. (Transfer for different dates and times will be at your expense). A welcome cocktail will be served upon arrival at our four star Grand Hotel Ischia Lido Resort & SPA. This resort/hotel is located on the water (Bay of Naples), near the beach, in the city center/shopping area of Ischia Porto. It features 2 outdoor pools, one with geothermic water, an indoor Health and Beauty Centre with 4 geothermic pools, water falls, geyser tubs, cervical hydro massage, Kneipp units, thermal mud treatments etc…. This is an ideal resort for those who want to enjoy a vacation at seaside with a bit of jet set life. This resort/hotel will be our home away from home for the next 5 nights. (L & D)
Day 3 - Mon - Ischia – Half day optional tour 1 - Today we will tour the island. Ischia is an incredibly beautiful volcanic island (Green Island) lying under a blue sky in the middle of and still unspoiled Tyrrhenian Sea. Formed by the fires of the now dormant volcano (Epomeo), which makes its presence felt via the many thermal and mineral springs found all over the island. Ischia is the most important natural SPA destination in Europe. (B, L & D)
Day 4 – Tue – Capri - Full day optional tour 2 - Today, after a short walk to the port, we will take a mini-cruise to the enchanting island of Capri. A funicular will carry us up to the Piazza Umberto I. The world-famous “Piazzetta” is lined with luxury boutiques, expensive restaurants and paparazzi chasing celebrities. Features of the island are: Marina Piccola, Belvedere of Tragara, Faraglioni (rugged rocks jutting up from the sea), Anacapri, Blue Grotto and the ruins of the Imperial Roman villa “Jovis”. Funicular and bus tickets not included. (B, L & D)
Day 5 – Wed - Sorrento – Full day optional tour 3 - A short walk to the port and then on a mini-cruise to the best loved resorts: Sorrento, known as the lemon-scented jewel of the peninsula, land of colors and fragrances. Sorrento exemplifies the Italy of our imagination! It has inspired poets, writers, artists and song writers since Roman times. Free full day in Sorrento to shop, to enjoy the best views of the enchanting bay of Naples or to have lunch and wine in a local trattoria. Typical products of Sorrento are: Limoncello and Wood Intarsia. Then back to Ischia for a quick swim or relax in the spa before dinner at the hotel. (B, L & D).
Day 6 – Thu – Amalfi & Positano – Full day optional tour 4 - This morning, after breakfast and a short walk to the port, we will embark on a mini-cruise to the enchanting Amalfi Coast, thought by many to be the most beautiful stretch of scenery in the entire Mediterranean. This stretch of coastline will carve a special place in your heart! A landscape masterpiece, it is a “vertical village” that really seems to be standing, leaning against a rocky wall. We will visit two of the areas best-loved resorts and spend approximately 2 hours in each place. Amalfi the coast’s main town, a precious gem of this intoxicating region, lies at the mouth of a deep ravine surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery; Positano is a village dangerously perched in an enclave on the hill leading down to the Mediterranean coast. Positano has contributed to the revival of the entire Amalfi coast. (B, L & D).
* If you prefer, you can stay in Ischia on Fri & Sat (day 7 & 8) at no extra cost with 3 meals per day included. In this case the transfer from Ischia to the airport, port, and/or railroad station will be at your expenses.
Day 7 – Fri - Pompeii & Rome - This morning after breakfast, we will depart for the capital of the Roman Empire, Rome also known as The Eternal, Capital of the World, and The City. Along the way, we will stop (approximately 3 hours) in Pompeii, known for its ancient city’s ruins caused by the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius (admission not included). A narrated tour with headphone can be obtained for a minimal fee. In Rome our four star Grand Hotel Olympic will be our home away from home for the next 2 nights. This beautiful Papal palace in the heart of Rome, between the Vatican City and Piazza del Popolo, is a short distance to all the essential points of the city, 5 minute walk from Vatican City and St. Peter cathedral. Legend has it that Rome was founded by the twins Romulus and Remus and is definitively unique with its rich history and fervent vitality of its citizens. We encourage you to savor your first Roman dinner at nearby typical and well known restaurants and enjoy your meal with a glass or two of “er vino de‘Castelli“, typical regional wine. (B)
Day 8 - Sat – Vatican City & Imperial Rome – Optional tours 5 & 6 - This morning a professional guide will narrate the tour of Vatican City (approximately 3 hours). The story of the “Vatican” started about two thousand years ago when the
Apostle Peter was buried across the Tiber River in 67 A.D. The Basilica of Saint Peter is one of the four major basilicas of Rome. It is the most prominent building inside the Vatican City and built on the ruins of Old Saint Peter's Basilica. As you enter, to your right, Michelangelo’s “Pieta” is displayed. The “Colonnade” was built by Bernini (1656-1666). The Vatican Museums display works from the extensive collection of the Roman Catholic Church. The Sistine Chapel is in the Apostolic Palace, the official residence of the Pope. Its fame rests in its decoration, frescoed throughout by the greatest Renaissance artists including Michelangelo. The ceiling is legendary and it is in the Sistine Chapel that every new Pope is selected.
This afternoon we will have a tour of Imperial Rome (approximately 3 hours). We will visit the Coliseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire and the most representative symbol of Rome. You will appreciate the magnificence and glory of what was Rome 2000 years ago. We will continue down via dei Fori Imperiali and, along the Via Sacra, we will follow in the footsteps of Julius Caesar, Marc Anthony and Nero. At the altar where Julius Caesar was cremated, visitors from around the world still leave flowers and candles at this site to this day. Then you will visit the Capitol Hill with its square by Michelangelo and Piazza Venezia considered the Centre of Italy. (B)
Day 9 – Sun - Rome - 7:00 AM group transfer to Fiumicino airport and Stazione Termini train station. (Transfer will be at your expenses for different dates and times). Have a safe return home, treasure the memories…grazie and arrivederci a presto! (B)
