Japan is a country with over three thousand islands stretching along the Pacific Ocean in Asia. The main islands running from north to south including Hokkaidō, Honshu (main island), Shikoku and Kyūshū. Ryukyu Islands, including Okinawa, a chain of islands south of Kyushu. Together, it is commonly known as "the Japanese Archipelago."
